RVing Over the Holidays

A time to extend your hand and family while traveling

Are you away from family for the holidays? Here are some things to help you and others when at RV parks and on the road.

Are you going to be away from your family during the holidays? Notice I didn’t say away from home? That’s because as full timers we are always home, we may be in a strange town but we are always home.

Even though we may be away from our blood family we may find extended family closer than you might think. Take for example the “Escapees RV Club” If you are looking for the closest thing to being in a family an Escapee member would be it. We have spent several holidays at Escapees parks and always have been made to feel as though we were family. We have participated in their functions even though we were just passing through.

Most destination parks have “doings” for the holidays. Check at the office or recreation hall for event calendars. If your park is not doing anything check with local churches. Even though you are not a member of this church or perhaps this religion I would doubt they would nix your participation.

Perhaps you would rather help others during the holidays? There are a lot of groups that feed the poor or homeless. How about donating time to deliver meals to those that can’t get out? There are several toy organizations that probably could use some help during these times. Don’t forget the pantry type organizations that distribute food to the poor and needy.

If you are the stay at home kind well light those tiki torches and the camp fire turn your chairs toward the road and it will not be to long before someone will stop by with some cheer for you. With just a little effort on your part you can do some good, find new friends and extend your family.

Whatever you don’t just sit in your rig feeling sad, remember you joined this lifestyle to enjoy this beautiful country. To enjoy it to it’s fullest get out there and get involved.
