Imagine impressing your friends with an armored vehicle that boasts its own sound system, light show and optional "rocket booster."
The Badonkadonk, also known as the Donk, is a recreational vehicle that looks like it came from a spoof space movie. This armored vehicle, shaped like a trapezoid, was designed and built in 2002 by NaoDesign, a company started by two Stanford University marching band drummers Neil Ormond and Frank Pollock.
The rust patina tier roofed armoured Badonkadonk has two levels. The smooth metal sides are only interrupted by the window slats. A mesh shields the windows from any debris. The roof has a rail so the passengers can hang on and enjoy the ride in the open air. Music can be heard within the passenger cabin and outside the vehicle or both.
The driver controls the vehicle, sound, lights and any optional features from a control panel while standing in an exposed position at the hatch to the roof or sitting down. The position of driving the Badonkadonk while standing allows the driver's head and shoulders to be exposed above the floor level of the railed roof.
There is not a driver course available for the Badonkadonk because there isn't a driver course yet that can teach you to drive with the control stick. A driver will have to practice and be handy with a control stick to manuever the Badonkadonk around. The control stick moves up and down to accommodate either the standing or sitting position. It is with a right and left movement that the control stick is used for steering.
With the Badonkadonk, this drama queen armored tank is all about lights, fire and action! A Badonkadonk goes for Party town styling with its trim lighting and under body lighting. There are also headlights, taillights and turn signal lights to light up the party atmosphere.
Visitors to the Badonkadonk will have to stand back and away from the "rocket launchers". If the lighting is not enough, you can get the optional "rocket launchers" which are actually an electrical arc that lets off a loud noise. The "rocket launcher" gives the appearance of speed boosting the Badonkadonk if the driver can time it just right by giving the engine some gas.
The 6-power gasoline engine gets the Badonkadonk going up to 40 miles per hour. The wheels are hidden by a rubberized skirt. This skirt gives the Donk the appearance of hovering as it glides along.
The Badonkadonk is more of a party people attractor that cruises your recreational area to attract the party people. The Donk is not a legal armored vehicle that can run on public streets and is a recreational vehicle instead. The Badonkadonk is powered with a centrifugal clutch and a 6HP unleaded gasoline engine.
For about US 20 grand, you can get your very own Badonkadonk. The NAODesign Party Tank can be customized with unique features to match your personal style of fun. The JL421 Badonkadonk is made on an order-by-order basis.
