Travel Centers of America, Pilot Travel Centers and Petro Truck Stops offer unique services for long distance travelers. Here is information on what each center features.
While the thought of travel centers and truck stops might bring to mind services that would be more tailored to the professional driver, TA, Pilot and Petro centers offer amenities that are perfect for RVers as well. Listed below are some of the features of each center as well as the link to the website of each retailer where specific locations can be found.
TA, as they are most commonly referred to, are the most well known of the travel centers, and now that the corporation has obtained Petro Truck Stops, they will be even easier to find around the country.
TA locations offer everything from the simple to the extravagant including a user friendly website, luxury bathrooms, 24/7 customer service and convenient locations just off the exit ramp.
Featured full-service restaurants at TA locations vary, but include Country Pride, Buckhorn, Fork in the Road and Country Fare.
For faster service, national fast food restaurants are also available including Pizza Hut Express, Quizno's, Arby's, Taco Bell and more.
Along with dining services, TA offers a travel store with every available supply a traveler could need - flyers are also available to view online with specials and features.
Special RV features at TA centers include RV parking and 34 locations with dump stations.
TA also offers a RoadKing Club in which members earn points for dollars spent to turn in for rewards for services such as WiFi and showers.
While the Pilot website is not as user friendly as the others, the services seem somewhat comparable.
Pilot stations offer a variety of restaurants, both full-service and fast food, with over 300 different varieties including: Wendy's, McDonalds, KFC, and Subway.
Other services available include a travel store, showers, laundry, a game room and wireless internet.
Over 200 locations are available throughout the US and a select number in Canada, each offering its own variety of services which are listed on the company's website.
Petro stations are well known by RV travelers because of their affiliation with the Good Sam RV Club.
Unique services offered at Petro centers in addition to the standard amenities at other retailers, include those related to the health and hygiene of travelers. A Chiropractor, barber shop, message therapist, medical services, dental services and a full-service gym are included in the Petro driver features.
Petro centers also include a large selection of dining facilities, entertainment options including an arcade, computer room and movie room, and the all important travel store.
The Petro Passport is a card available to travelers which accumulates points to be exchanged for rewards. When on the road, the available online specials flyer is helpful when determining supply needs prior to reaching the next stop.
