Boondocking or Drycamping That Is The Question

I was informed that I had wrongly used the term boondocking, when I should have used dry camping. Hence "Barry's dictionary Of RV Terms" will be created.

I think that this might be a bit of the old tomato / tamato thing here. I was reminded that "boondocking" was not the proper term to use for camping in a Wal-Mart or a rest stop. The proper term for this type of camping should have been "dry camping".

"Boondocking is when you are camping in a remote area without any hookups. An example would be deep in the woods or desert.

"Dry camping" is when you are overnight at the Wal-Mart or rest stop without hookups.

To me those words should be somewhat interchangeable. Why cant you "dry camp" in the desert? We aren't going to have hook-ups right? Or conversely We should be able to "boondock" at a remote rest stop. We still aren't going to have any hook-ups. I guess I'll never understand the little things in life.

So the next step is for me to start "Barry's Dictionary of Rving Terms". The first page will be a page of keywords such as "boondocking" or "dry camping". This list will grow over time to include many Rving terms that we might use. The second Page will be the keywords definitions and links to articles that pertain to those keywords. It will take me a few days to get this working and it will start small so keep checking for new words.

If you have words or phrases you want defined in this glossary put them in the discussion area and I'll do my best to define them and find an article or two to help.
