Here is an update on my article Workamping It Ain't All Good http://campingrving.suite101.com/article.cfm/workamping__it_aint_all_good. The day after I posted the article we lost another Workamping couple, This is the third couple that has departed giving poor management as the reason for leaving.
They (we) finished the 20+ full hookup sites along the river pretty much as the first RV's checked in for those sites. My wife and I (along with 2 other male workers) did two days hard labor throwing sod, some 20 pallets, on the sites.
Our sites "on the hill" were finished...no sod.. we moved on to them as the tractors were putting the last of the gravel. Our site is a good 12 inches off kilter from one side to the other. We have 4 boards under the tires on the low side and could have used another. The main problem we have though is the site above us had to be excavated quite a bit. That was ok but rather than hauling the dirt off they decided to cover the grass between our sites with some 5 inches of this red clay. The night we moved on to our site it rained no it poured. Well now a good portion of that red clay is in our site.
As I write this it is Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. It is one of the busiest weekends of the year, So did we get a full day in.......no not yet.
I have got to add a good note here. The park is nearly full not quite but nearly and the campers that are here have been some of the best that we have been around. We have talked and joked with any number of them and one group handed my wife and I dinner as we passed them last night on our rounds. Trust me the meal was really appreciated as wew were tired even though we still didn't make 8.
